Planning and development executive

Salary: 28,000 to 33,000 GBP per annum dependent on experience

YTL Developments has an exciting opportunity for a Planning and Development Executive to join the team, as they start the fascinating journey of transforming the former Filton Airfield into a new mixed-use entire city district of 2,675 homes and 62 acres of employment space with the new supersonic YTL Bristol Arena at its heart.

The role

As the Planning and Development Executive you will have a good understanding of the development process having worked in the industry for at least three years. You will support development managers in delivering large projects but will also be capable of managing smaller independent projects.

Key projects/roles include:

  • Providing project support to the development team
  • Managing consultant teams, including delivery of outputs and budget
  • An understanding of the RIBA plan of work and the ability to produce high-level programmes
  • Understanding design, market, sustainability and construction to competently engage with other disciplines within YTL to deliver best value to the business
  • Preparing, commenting on and amending plans and images in photoshop or other programmes as required for presentations and internal communication
  • Preparing presentations in PowerPoint and PDF
  • Supporting Viewpoint for Projects (V4P) for the Planning and Development team
  • Supporting the admin/organisation of the Planning and Development team
  • Presenting and articulating information clearly to all the relevant internal and external stakeholders.

What do you need?

We are looking for someone with a positive approach to work, who is a self-starter that takes the initiative and is hoping to grow into a development, planning or architectural professional.

The Planning and Development team is highly collaborative; therefore, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability to work in a team, share information and provide overall support.

In addition, we are looking for:

  • A minimum of a diploma or degree in Architecture/Planning or a relevant RICS qualification
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in the industry
  • Hold a valid full UK driving licence
  • Good literacy and typing skills
  • Excellent digital presentation skills
  • Competent with all MS Office, including PowerPoint, Word and Outlook

The following would be an advantage, but not essential:

  • An understanding of architecture and design within the built environment
  • Experience in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
  • Experience and knowledge of preparation of CAD plans (Sketchup/CAD plans for initial ideas and phasing)
