Our aim is to create a thriving new community within a mixed-use ‘15-minute neighbourhood’, where every daily essential is a short walk or cycle ride away. Enabling people to live, work, go to school, exercise, shop, enjoy a night out or simply relax in a park, all without needing to use a private car, is at the heart of our vision for a more sustainable future.
Brabazon will be Bristol’s best-connected new neighbourhood. Over £100m is being invested in new transport infrastructure. You’ll be able to walk to work anywhere in North Bristol, cycle to the city centre, take the train to Temple Meads, or hop on the MetroBus.
Brabazon is one of the UK’s largest brownfield sites. Building more at Brabazon will help to protect the Green Belt. To date 95% of our new houses are A-rated for energy performance. And we are creating the largest new urban park in the South West for 50 years.
Created by internationally-renowned, locally-based architects, the new homes at Brabazon are designed to be different. With generous rooms, oversized windows, and soaring double-height spaces in selected homes, they are up to 25% larger than others would build.
The existing planning consent from 2018 - the Masterplan - means YTL Developments already has approval to transform the former Filton Airfield. The approved plans for Brabazon include 2,675 new homes, three new schools, a medical centre, community hub and public library, as well as sports and leisure facilities, all set around landscaped public squares and parks.
The same planning consent also includes over 62 acres of space allocated for commercial use. This will support over 10,000 new jobs, enabling North Bristol’s world-leading cluster of innovative engineering and aerospace firms to continue to grow and thrive.
In March 2020, we also received approval to transform the historic former Brabazon Hangars – where every UK Concorde was built – into the supersonic new 17,000 capacity YTL Arena Bristol.
Set out among peaceful, tree-lined streets across a south-facing hillside, The Hangar District is our first phase of new homes and a haven at the heart of Brabazon. Built of solid red brick and designed by award-winning architects, the houses at The Hangar District are proper homes - spacious, warm and welcoming - while this new urban quarter is criss-crossed by walking routes and cycle paths.
